Ways to Donate, Advocate and Help
- Red Cross of Vermont and New Hampshire: A complete listing of latest efforts with ways to help donate blood, money or your time.
- Red Cross’s Safe and Well: After a disaster, letting your family and friends know that you are safe and well can bring your loved ones great peace of mind. This website is designed to help make that communication easier.
- VTResponse: A way to directly help those in need. As Vermont cleans up from Irene, this site will be an open source page to get help requests connected with those who want to help.
- VTResponse Forum: A site listing areas of communities by towns that needs.
- The VT Disaster Relief Fund: Expenditures from the fund will be used 100% for the unmet long term needs of survivors from the Irene disaster, and decisions will be made by Long Term Recovery Committees recognized by VOAD and Vermont Emergency Management.
- United Way of Windham County: A local chapter with ways to donate, advocate and volunteer.
- Stratton Foundation: Their mission is to provide a bridge for supporters and community non-profits to enhance opportunities, health and quality of life for children and their families. Special information on their home page has several ways to get involved and help out in communities affected by Hurricane Irene.
- Vermont Foodbank: The mission of the Vermont Foodbank is to gather and share quality food and nurture partnerships so that no one in Vermont will go hungry.
- VT Irene Flood Relief Fund: An effort initiated to help Vermonters and Vermont Communities affected by the devastating flooding due to Hurricane Irene. 100% of all donations will be distributed to Businesses through out Vermont Communities in desperate need.
- Resources for Relief (Child Care Providers of VT): This website is to help support childcare providers who’s businesses were impacted by hurricane Irene, as well as a place for volunteers to post their interest and availability to help out childcare providers in their community.
Purchased Goods, Proceed Options and specific Causes
- Independent Vermont Clothing: All proceeds from specially marked shirts purchased in response to hurricane Irene benefit the local Red Cross.
- Vermont Baseball Tours: 100% of their net proceeds will be donated to the VT Irene Flood Relief Fund.
- Andy Abbot Photography: All proceeds from purchased photos benefit the Vermont Irene Flood Relief Fund.
- Vermont’s Weston Playhouse: A special Emergency Fund has been set up to assist the company with cleanup and restoration efforts.
- Vermont Strong Store: A portion of all proceeds will benefit recovery efforts in The Green Mountain State! These are being produced at cost by Awesome Graphics in Rutland, Vermont. The profit generated after the cost of producing the shirt will be given to The Vermont Food Bank.
